Kaip pas zmones
Social division and confrontation are more and more often indicated as the main problems in Lithuania. Also, fears are increasingly rising whether we remain a society whose various parts can and wish to communicate with each other, whether we have eliminated all possibilities for dialogue, and whether we only live in our bubbles.
The show’s Kaip pas žmones (What People Think) goal is to answer these questions and look for points of contact at least among the people who want to communicate, thus setting an example not only for society, but the political elite as well. The politicians keep voicing their intent to take the initiative of uniting the people of Lithuania and gathering them around a discussion table, but since they are taking their time to fulfil this promise, Author’s Foundation and the patron Norfa are undertaking this mission.

Kaip pas žmones analyses national political issues. This project’s purpose is to present that which is happening in the so-called Vilnius bubble to the entire Lithuania by bringing together for an informal discussion representatives and leaders of the national politics as well as local political and public figures. The show is hosted by the well-known commentator Vytautas Bruveris.

Nowadays, the word ‘sustainable’ can be heard in many a commercial, found in business descriptions and strategies, and seen on product packages in stores.
It has become a buzzword of sorts in the media and is being used more frequently by politicians and various professionals. Nevertheless, many of us still associate this term only with ecology and environmental protection. It has to be said that quite often the mentioning of sustainability alone is enough to make us lose all interest and expect nothing riveting or worthwhile. Today, the topic of sustainability is intertwined with the fostering and dissemination of Western values more than ever before; therefore, Authors’ Foundation has used the obtained financial support to initiate a series of videos about sustainability, called Ateities karta (Future Generation), and also promoted the creation of sustainability-related articles in Lithuanian news portals and regional media.

During the initiative, the audience will be familiarized with the essence of sustainability, good examples, issues, and challenges, and the whole content that has been created on the initiative of Authors’ Foundation is open, i.e. it can be posted and reposted without a separate request or permission. Authors’ Foundation is looking for means to attract additional sources of investment for independent authors on the Delfi Plius platform.

Delfi Plius is an open content monetisation platform. Upon joining, users can find quality content in a variety of formats, created by individual authors and distinguished international and Lithuanian media companies. What is more, the platform allows content creators to earn money for their work.

The platform hosts translated pieces from The Economist, Bloomberg, Harvard Business Review and Foreign Policy as well as articles from Kultūros barai, Naujasis Židinys-Aidai, Šiaurės Atėnai and other publications. Some of the independent authors are: Rytis Zemkauskas, Rimas Šapauskas, Andrius Užkalnis, Gražina Kristina Sviderskytė, Ernestas Parulskis, Marius Burokas and Paulius and Jurgita Jurkevičiai.

The project was partially financed by Google’s Digital News Innovation Fund.

Authors’ Foundation initiates the collection of the 1.2% personal income tax for independent authors. Lithuanian citizens can allocate the aforementioned percentage as financial support to any organisation of choice. All Delfi Plius independent authors are also eligible for receiving the 1.2% personal income tax support. Royalties collected in such a way will allow them to create freely and share their insights, celebrating true democracy. All the funds received from the personal income tax are distributed among Delfi Plius authors as payment for their work.

Authors’ Foundation helps to attract additional projects for Delfi channel Business Approach, which strives to promote entrepreneurship and establish the view on business as an important part of the economy.
According to polls conducted in Lithuania, the opinion about businessmen is still negative.

Trying to improve the prestige of entrepreneurship in Lithuania, the Delfi portal is creating unique content, but in order to create content for the entire country, the involvement of regional media is needed. Similarly, more expert insight requires the involvement of economists and other professionals, and, in turn, additional financing and project work.

Authors’ Foundation has contributed to the creation and implementation of the Responsible Approach Awards. More information available AT www.delfi.lt/apps/atsakingaspoziuris. It will be an annual project comprising the research Socially Responsible Business to select socially responsible companies, businessmen, and figures, contributing to the creation of prosperity in Lithuania.
